Before midnight on Samhain – November Eve, the most magickal night of the year, prepare some feast food such as bread made of pumpkin, corn or other harvest crops. Brew some mugwort tea.

Now cast a circle: Place small rocks or stones around the circle area and light the four directions of East, West, North and South with white pillar candles.

Walk slowly round the circle with a lit white candle to cleanse its energy. Then walk widdershins (counter-clockwise) and whisk negative energies out of the circle with your besom or a branch (one that has fallen naturally from a nearby tree that still has live shoots on it). Walk deosil (clockwise), waving burning sage to reinforce the Fire and Air energies.

Add a few pinches of salt to the water then walk deosil around the circle, sprinkling the water on it to reinforce Earth and Water energies.

Walk to the East of the circle and say aloud: Celebrate Samhain, Bright Wind and Breeze!

Walk to the North of the circle and say aloud: Celebrate Samhain, Earth our Mother!

Walk to the South of the circle and say aloud: Celebrate Samhain, Burning Flame and Smoke!

Walk to the West of the circle and say aloud: Celebrate Samhain, Pure and Pouring Waters!

Welcome, Elements, to my Circle of Light, on this most blessed November Eve.

Raise the bread and thank Great Mother Earth for Her gifts. Then eat a small piece of the bread and sip the mugwort tea.

Place a blue candle in the center of the circle. Sprinkle some dried mugwort herb into the light of a blue candle, then place a magickal mirror behind the candle so that its light is reflected toward you.

Look deeply into the mirror and concentrate on the reflected light of the candle. Ask the Future to speak to you with images in your mind of what the highest answer, the highest outcome is for the issue most troubling or puzzling you or someone you love. Take as long as you need, and continue to ask until your question is answered.

Passing your hand over the candle three times, say:

I ask thee for Wisdom, my Future to Be.
I ask thee for Insight, and Clarity.

Into my mind let the answers now flow.
Away from my mind, all confusion must go.

So Mote it Be.

Clear your mind of all thoughts and distractions as you stare at the light in the mirror. Let the answers come in its glow. Be willing to return to this spell and ritual as often as it takes to receive the increased psychic insight you are seeking.

Do Wiccans practice magic? This is the burning question posed by those unfamiliar with the religion. As always, it depends on who you ask. Some Wiccans practice magic but some don’t. Those that don’t most likely prefer to focus on the spirituality of the religion as opposed to the magic part. Sometimes magic is referred to as suhagra “magick”, in order to separate it from the stage magic that magicians like David Blaine performs. Most covens that practice magic do so from a “Book of Shadows”, a book filled with Wicca lore and spells. When it comes to magic and spells, the famous ceremonial magician Aleister Crowley defined magic as “the science and art of causing change to occur in conformity with will”. However, another well-known magician named MacGregor Mathers called magic “the science of the control of the secret forces of nature”. However you define it, it is clear that the thought of doing magic can be exhilarating. After all, who wouldn’t want to cast spells that could make life a little easier? (Such as Mrs. Weasley using magic to clean her house in the Harry Potter series). This particular view of magic though, as I just described, is sometimes met with scorn and derision by some Wiccans and/or witches. Most of the magic and spell work that is conducted are filled with good intentions like healing or peace.

Indeed, Wiccans and witches are not always the same thing. You can be a Wiccan but not be a witch or vice versa. Though witchcraft is part of Wicca, it’s not inherent in every single part of the religion. To practice witchcraft is simply a personal preference for the Wiccan.

Typical magic and spellwork are done with tools like an athame (knife), chalice, tarot cards, scrying with a crystal ball, rolling dice, throwing bones or casting runestones. Though spells are done to get a Wiccan what he/she wants, Wiccans are careful to avoid inadvertently hurting anyone else. As I mentioned earlier, spells are done with good intentions in mind such as helping a sick friend or relative, hoping for good things for another person, or attempting to better their own lives such as a successful job interview.

Wiccans and/or witches are not the evil spell-casters that Hollywood and history have made them out to be. Indeed, they are just like you and me, with maybe a couple of extra skills.

But did you know that witchcraft is actually considered a religion? Witchcraft is now known as Wicca and the followers of the faith are referred to as Wiccans. Contrary to popular belief, Wiccans do not worship Satan or pagan gods. It’s been said that Wicca is a religion of poetry instead of theology. Instead of attending a church every Sunday, Wiccans conduct their own rituals and ceremonies at a place and time of their choosing. In Wicca, there is now only one God and one Goddess. The God and Goddess can be described as husband and wife or brother and sister, depending on how the Wiccans choose to worship them. The God is the provider of food and the bringer of death. As for the Goddess, she is sometimes referred to as the Great Mother or Mother Nature. She is considered to be the source of magical power. However, not every Wiccan worships the God or Goddess. Others choose to deem nature as their deity. When it comes to Wicca, there is a great deal of spiritual freedom involved.

Though Wicca is a very flexible religion, there are two main rules. The first rule, the Wiccan Rede, states: “An it harm none, do what thou wilt”, which basically means do whatever you want as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else. The second rule is called “The Rule of Three” and it reinforces the first rule by ensuring that any harm or good that a Wiccan does will come back three times over. By practicing these laws, Wiccans can enjoy a sense of freedom and safety in following their faith.

How does Wicca differ from other religions? For one thing, women are considered just as important as men, if not more so. After all, the Goddess is considered the driving force behind the faith. Also, human sexuality is thought to be a gift from the Goddess or Great Mother. The Goddess, along with many other aspects, is viewed as the goddess of fertility. So it’s only natural that the Goddess would bestow sexuality on the Wiccans. Last but not least, the environment ranks highly on the faith’s list of priorities. It’s common to find Wiccans maintaining “green” habits, such as recycling or using green products.

Wicca is certainly a fascinating religion and if anyone were to convert, they would enjoy a great sense of spiritual freedom as well as a sense of sisterhood.

Charge a Candle for Magick

A lot of people have heard of charging their candles for magick, but some people still don’t know how. This will give you a brief overview of how to charge your candle and hopefully give you some information as to why it is so important when using candles to do this. This can make your magick more potent and more effective. This is so simple and easy to do, once you see your magick working even more effectively with the use of charged candles then you will realize the importance of charging your spell.

The only thing you need is the candle that you are going to use with the magick runes, or symbols already inscribed into the candle, the candle holder and that is all. You can have a match and lighter on hand if you plan to let the spell or magickal working be the candle with the runes which is such a simple way yet powerful way to do magick.

What you will need to do is place the candle in your power hand. Your power hand is the one that you write with. Place your opposite hand upward toward the sky. Visualize your goal, at the end of this working what is it that you want to have accomplished? Visualize and imagine the hand being filled the energy of the God/dess. Now see the universal mother energy combining with your intention. With this combined energy flowing through you and filling your whole body, push this energy into your spell candle.  You are the conductor and have control of this energy given to you by the God/dess. Push the energy into the candle, you may also speak aloud your intention.

You can place the candle into the holder and light it if you are doing  a candle magick working. Or you may proceed now with the full magickal working or spell casting. For me it seems to work best if I do my cleansing ritual, layout my tools, and then charge my candle before doing the whole spell. It may take some time, and some people tend to think that certain spells shouldn’t be as lengthy but for me my magick is almost guaranteed to work when I follow these procedures. This is not to say you must do this this this and this to receive a certain result, but it can make you magick more effective. Lengthy spells for me have always worked well and I must say that during this time I feel and intense connection with the God/dess which of course plays a deep part. This is a great spell it is intended for the Blue Moon, but you may do this spell on any full moon with similar results.

This spell is to be done on the night of the Blue Moon. The next Blue Moons dates are : August 31 2012 – July 31 2015 – January 31 2018 – March 31 2018 (two chances in 2018!). The Blue Moon is a time for goal setting for the Wiccan. Because the times in between the Blue Moons vary giving you plenty of time to complete your goals.

What You’ll Need:

• a blue pillar candle
• myrrh oil
• black marker

Anoint your candle with the myrrh oil. Bless and consecrate your candle. Write your name on the candle and write your wish on your candle. You may need to wait until the oil dries before writing on the candle.

Take the candle in your power hand. See yourself filling with white light until it overflows surrounding you with white light. See the white light gathering in your hand and flowing into your candle.Light your candle and make your wish.  Spend time mediating on the outcome. Let the candle burn out.

Wish spells are probably the second most popular type of white magick spells. This really speaks to the hearts and minds of people. We all want love. We all want to fulfill our dreams. Wish magick may be deemed wishful thinking by some, and for me its not offensive! Our thoughts not only become things but they dictate they way we see life. Learn how to do a love spell without ingredients!

Focus everyday on the qualities you would like to attract. Don’t focus on a particular person as this spell does not seek to encroach on someones free will and is meant to attract true love to you. Practice meditation, energy raising and visualization daily. You need to be really clear about the person you want to attract. Don’t send the universe  mixed singles. When you have sufficient focus start chanting a simple chant. You should write your own, something along the lines of;

“Brilliant Moon, At this hour

I call upon your magick power

Give to me the love I seek

I would do this spell on the night of the full moon for the next six months. You should have attracted love just with your visualizations alone in this period of time. This is a quick tutorial on how to consecrate an item for use in your magickal workings. The consecrate of magickal tools before a spell working is important for a variety of different reason. Mainly because it cleans the candle/object of residual energies and adds neutral energies for your spell castings/rituals etc. When we consecrate a candle we dedicate it for a magickal purpose.

A lot of people have problems with reusing candles and things like that for mutiple spells. I don’t! I mean what a waste! If the spell doesn’t require you burn the candle down or dispose of the candle and you are using the said candle for a black magick purpose or to rid yourself of negative energies then why not?!?!?!

It seems to be one of those things that don’t have a real root in knowledge of Wicca and witchcraft but everyone accepts blindly and accepts. Kinda like the whole DON’T BLOW OUT THE CANDLE thing… Yeah if you feel that way you obviously may have taken it from a pretty ignorant source. That’s why you should read more!

There are many ways to consecrate a candle or object. The simplest way is before charging the candle or object dressing it. Dressing means to anoint the object with oil. You can make a general purpose oil or a Goddess oil for spells that you don’t use a corresponding oil.

There are rituals to consecrate items, special spells, and some people combine blessing/charging/cleansing the items through a ritual they do themselves. If I am get a new item I do a consecration ritual to dedicate the tool for magickal purposes.

A simple way to consecrate and items is to get a bowl of water and some sea salt. Wash the candle with the water and sea salt. While you do this imagine washing away any residual energies. Afterwards anoint the candle with oil.

The corn dolly really represents the spirit of the harvest. Many witches use corn dollies in spell work and in this tutorial I will explain how I make corn dollies. Be careful when splitting, buying, or bind the corn stalks. The corn stalks are pretty sturdy but can easily rip with excessive or rough handling.

How to Make a Corn Dolly

What You’ll Need:

• two small bunches of corn stalks
• green/yellow strips of  wool or cotton
• a grape vine
• red or orange ribbons for ritual (Lammas)

Corn Dolly

1)Take one bunch of the corn stalks and with the yellow cotton strips, bind the stalks just below the top and tie them tightly.

2)Around a half inch to and inch below your first knot, do the same.

3)Split the bundle into four strands. This will make the arms and body for your corn dolly. The middle two will become the body and the outer two strands will become the arms.

4) Bend the stalks that make your corn dolly’s arms and bind carefully with the yellow cotton strip.

5) Take a longer strip of cotton and tie it around the neck of your corn dolly. Bind the body pieces together and crisscross the yellow cotton strips around the body. The body should be around 4 inches in length. Take the green cotton strips and tie it around the base of your corn dolly’s middle and body section.

6) Split the bottom of your dolly to form the legs, just as you formed the arms. Bind with the green cotton.

7) Ask for blessing for your corn dolly. You should ask an agricultural deity. You might say: God of plenty, bless now this image of your fertility.

8) Decorate with the grape vines, other greenery and the ribbons that represent your celebration or festival.

To make the corn dolly representative of a female deity just leave the bottom section to free so that it looks like a dress or skirt.

This is a one of many wiccan spells for money, found on the web. I found the chant and spell, but I don’t remember where, so if you know where this spell was found, please leave me a comment so I can give appropriate credit.

Okay this is another simple money spell. I would suggest you do it on a Thursday, the night of the full moon if at all possible. The full moon is when our magickal energies are at some of there highest and it is always predictive of good results when doing magick based on the lunar cycles. I have not personally done this spell, but please try it and leave a comment below telling me how it worked for you. Magick is a wonder and powerful thing, you might want to read up on Magick Runes and include a Runescript into your magickal working.

This is the spell for money. Do this spell for help in times of financial difficulties. You will need: Cinnamon Oil, and a money note. (It is suggested that you get the largest denomination bill that you have. So $10, $20 and up if you have it, if not the a $1 dollar bill will be find as well.)

Concentrate on your abundance. Search deep within yourself and visualize what you want. Feel as if you have it all right now, as you do this draw or trace the money symbol or rune on the largest money note/bill you have.  Say thank you to the God/dess and know that it is already yours. Put the dollar bill in your wallet and resist spending the money as long as you can. Every time you see the bill visualize the rune and its meaning to enforce its power.

This money spell uses visualization, and rune magick. You can find out more about the magick runes and about runescripts. This is a spell that is easily customizable. You can write the number 8 on a slip of paper and also insert it into your wallet. You can light a green candle when doing the magickal working as an additional correspondence. It is a simple spell, but really effective!
