1. How to use Runes for divination. Read that article for details on how to use runes for divination. Divination is the use of object and/or tools to discern the answers or outcome to a question. Runes stones fall into the same divination tools family as the pendulum and tarot cards. Some people use a generalized method of their own to read the runes, while others use strict meanings from books and things like that. I am somewhere in between as I feel it is very important to learn the rune symbol meanings.
2. Using Runes as Spells. Some people use runes for the entire spell, this is called a runescript. They use symbols to depict their current condition and their desired outcome. You have to write the rune symbols in the exact order for the runes to be properly utilized. Afterwards you will want to make sure to bless and consecrate your runescript and place it on the object you did the spell on or carry it with you if you did the spell for yourself.  One the paper has served its purpose then you may give thanks then burn the paper.
3. Using Runes for Spell work. You can also utilize rune as you would a colored candle, a particular herb, or any other magickal correspondences. For instance if you wanted to make a charm bag for protection, you could simply gather the herbs you wanted and place a slip of paper with the rune symbol you want drawn on it to make your spell bag, or charm bag stronger. This is a simple and fun way to have use the rune for spell workings.
4. Rune Tattoos are a great way to place the power of the runic symbols onto your person. As great as it may seem you need to be careful and place a temporary tattoo on your person before making it permanent. Temporary tattoos are suggested for many reasons but the most important reason is this; runes are very powerful, you may unknowing pick a rune that is not necessarily going to work out for you good, if you see and immediately get a permanent tattoo of the wrong rune it can be met with really disastrous results.
